Food & Treats

We feed rabbit pellets (17% protein), RingMaster Rabbit from Nutrena. Each adult rabbit gets approximately 1 oz of pellets per pound per day. Pregnant and nursing does are fed more because of the extra energy demands of motherhood. We also give the rabbits Doc's Rabbit Enhancer regularly, and oat or timothy hay at least twice per week, both of which help prevent wool block and keep the rabbits healthy. When babies are about 3 weeks old, we start making oatmeal available and always have oat hay for them.

We feed small amounts of treats sparingly, to keep bunnies interested in eating. Good treats for rabbits include: parsley, bananas with peel, apple slices, dried papaya or other fruit, baby carrots, dried bread.
